My name is Warwick Jarvis; I am the founder of JarvisFitness.com. My reasons for starting this service are fairly simple. It all began back in 1991. I was a skilled athlete, playing both football and tennis. Having just returned to the UK from a US college where I was on a sports scholarship I was invited to play in a Charity football match and leapt at the opportunity. During the game I clashed heads with another player and sustained a fractured skull. After a few hours I fell into a coma, in which I remained for 6 and a half weeks. When I regained consciousness I could not move my body at all, my nervous system having shut-down and sustained permanent damage. After 18 months of Physiotherapy and learning to walk again I was able enough to return to college in the US, although not without assistance. On returning to college I continued to receive Physiotherapy but also undertook classes in Anatomy and Physiology, Human Biology and Nutrition in an attempt to further my understanding of how my body now functioned. As my Physiotherapy continued I ventured into the gym; albeit cautiously. Since I was no longer able to play any kind of sport, exercise in the gym provided me with the release I needed to vent my frustrations over my loss of ability and feel better about myself.

Over the past 15 years I have regularly attended various gyms and health clubs, private, municipal and corporate. My focus has been both on achieving a good looking body but also one which performs better; in light of my continuing disability due to the head injury. All of the exercises I undertake have needed to serve to burn calories, improve coordination and not render me exhausted the following day. Due to the limitations which the accident placed on my body I have been even more aware of my own restrictions but also of what can be achieved if your focus is on the correct areas and with the correct degree of exertion.

I have maintained my exercise regime consistently for 15 years. I am committed to my own well being and have learned more exercises than the space of this website will allow me to expand on. All of the exercises recommended by Jarvis Fitness have all been tried and tested specifically with a view to gauging their effectiveness.
